Venus Retrograde: Rethinking What's "Good"
The gift that keeps on giving but you kinda want it to stop...
What’s poppin? It’s your girl Christydabull, your local Taurus coming with another post for the girls who wanna to have fun. If you’re new to my content, take some time to read through my work and heavily consider following (or subscribing) to my Substack for more Astrology content. I’m also accepting Anonymous Astrology questions for my column that I will be responding to on the monthly basis, so do keep your eyes out for the scoop. You are able to ask me any astrology question that you want; Spill the tea, or keep it simple, either way, your question will get answered in some sort of fashion. I highly advise you to describe me some scenarios that you want to look into more, in an advice column style, but if you just have astro questions, that is perfectly fine as well. Here is the link to the form and now…Let’s jump into the post now, shall we?
You all know what time it is. It’s Rx season and this time Venus is on the chopping block. But before you crash out and get nervous about whether your love life is in shambles, let’s discuss Lady Venus, what she tells us in astrology, and what you can do to conquer this retrograde.
Venus is sweet, Venus is kind, and Venus sounds like the word p*nis (but you ain’t heard that one from me). The point is Venus is representative of all things that bring us pleasure. Venus is here to satisfy our urges and to keep our surroundings in a good feeling state of mind.
Going to dinner with your friends (Venus), listening to music (Venus), binge-watching that show on Hulu (Venus), kissing your partner (Venus), and yes, the beautiful act of making love is also Venus.
We all know why Venus is important in our lives. After all, everyone seeks enjoyment, everyone wants to have a little fun and blow off some steam. Evidently, Venus gets boiled down to romantic relationships, and do not get me wrong that is absolutely a topic that Venus describes, but I’m here to remind you guys that Venus is more than romance, but enjoyment.
Since we know that Venus encompasses those instant pleasures and fulfillment, we need to talk about when she goes retrograde (yikes). In all seriousness, when planets *appear* to move backwards (yes, planets are not actually moving backwards it just appears that way from our perspective on earth) it causes us to look back at a concept over and over again to make sure that it is functioning properly.
So, the retrograde that you are used to hearing about often is Mercury Rx. Mercury deals with communication and the refinement of things, such as paperwork, writing, sending mail, your daily commute, etc. We know that when Mercury Rx’s those topics become a little bit harder to understand off face value. Maybe you’re rushing to send that text, and now your friend thinks you said something completely different from what you intended…yup that’s the Mercury Rx in effect. Another example would be your packages getting delayed or you order an item, but it wasn’t what you expected. These are all examples of what it is like for Mercury to be retrograde. Mind you, we actually have a Mercury retrograde coming up in Aries (my natal mercury zzzz) on March 15th at 2:46am est. Right after the Lunar Eclipse, ain’t that something?
With all that said, when Venus retrogrades, it calls attention to what we do or use for instant gratification and satisfaction. For instance, you could be friends with a homegirl from school and you decide to go out with her. Well, you go out, but it doesn’t go how you planned it, mainly because your friend isn’t doing the activities with you and is more focused on other dynamics. Maybe she’s hyper-focused on talking to another friend she decided to bring along at the last second, or maybe she left you there without warning. Maybe she engages in activities that don’t give you the satisfaction you want. Retrograde may do this for you, so you need to keep your eyes open.
Now, this isn’t the only example I can draw for Venus Rx, YOU, the audience, just need to remember that this retrograde is asking you to examine how you have fun, how you feel good, and what you do to achieve that instant gratification.
Venus Retrograde is happening in Aries currently, and it will eventually traverse back to the sign of Pisces, its exaltation. Venus in Aries is already in its detriment, not making the road to love easy, bringing back focus on how to be an individual without connections tramping on that. Venus does not like Aries because its domicile ruler is Mars, which brings division and grit to a place where peace and ease are supposed to exist. So yes, a lot of situations are going to be based on splitting and divisions because of the environment that Venus is placed in. This doesn’t have to be the most drastic movement; after all, Venus is still trying to enjoy herself and avoid the drama (save that for your mama!).
Ask yourself if the activities that I choose to partake in serve me to the best of my ability or if they are weighing me down and messing up my sense of peace. Another example: I, me Christy, have had an oral fixation ever since I could blink. One of my recent oral fixations was vaping. I quit vaping in January, I would say, before Venus rx; however, this period has been me kinda unpacking and regulating myself with activities that are healthier and will provide me more ease in the process. Reading, something that I used to do WAYYYY more as a kid, has helped me regulate many emotions, which is me taking a good element from the past and implementing it in my present.
Venus Rx Through the Rising Signs
Let’s look at this Venus Rx through the houses for the rising signs. I’ll let you guys absorb this information while I twirl in the background.
Aries Rising: Venus Rx in the 1H calls you back to yourself. This is a time to reexamine your own goals, without anyone else’s influence. You may even need to stop and examine how your actions affect your livelihood or if you’re being authentic for yourself. When Venus Rx’s back into Pisces, your 12H, it’s a time to step back and take time away from prying eyes, those who may promote more harm than good. You should do this to save yourself the hurt feelings you’re most likely to encounter.
Taurus Rising: You may be unpacking people's hidden animosity during this time, causing you to want to stay inward rather than entertaining the masses. There’s a hint of being on edge here and protecting your sense of peace; however, there will be a time when you desire to connect with others without the tension. When Venus goes into Pisces, you have to rethink these ideals and what your long-term goal is when it comes to your connections or senses of pleasure. What is it that you aim to get out of them?
Gemini Rising: You already have a Jupiter in its exile transiting the 1H, causing you to question your surroundings, and with Venus in the 11H making a sextile by sign to Jupiter, this is causing you to question the connections and your actual goals that you want to take on. There’s a lot you want to do while implanting fun into it. However, you may need to slow it down a bit so you don’t lose your sense of purpose. When Venus goes into Pisces, it will cause direct conflict with your reputation, and public image because of your lack of focus and honing down on your interests. Remember, this goes back to yourself at the end of the day; this feels like a classic case of burnout, baby.
Cancer Rising: You might want to slow down a bit because you’re already in an agitated state of being. Venus is in your 10H, the activities and people you were known to do/hang out with may be going through some drastic changes, and I say this because Mars is transiting the 1H making that square to Venus. It’s some hard times for you, but this is the moment to think about the actions and morals you want to be aligned with or don’t want to be aligned with when Venus returns to Pisces, your 9H.
Leo Rising: You know that song that goes “That’s me in the spotlight, losing my religion”? Yeah, that’s what I heard immediately when I looked at the transit chart. So, you may not be in alignment with previous ideologies or people you have looked up to in the past. Venus is transiting the 9H for you. Is the stuff you believe in right now actually good for you? Do you believe in it anymore? Or are you holding on to it for the sake of it? Either way, something will force you to let go when Venus reenters Pisces in the 8H, forcing you to lose or shed something. This will be the time to question yourself on these morals, or you may see someone use them to do more harm than good.
Virgo Rising: “OOooouuuu, we irritated”, honestly it’s a very moody time for my Virgo Risings because they’re constantly being put in positions of power struggles with other people. The source for this anger is a bit hard to locate, however, but the direction you should look in is the company you keep, aka those friends or that job. People you are doing business with especially as Venus will return to your 7H. This might be a time to practice letting go of said anger, which I do mean expressing it so that it is out of your body.
Libra Rising: It’s a bit of a rough time for you guys. Venus being in the 7H right now calls attention to the partnerships you have had with people in the past and what you liked and hated about them. The challenge is to speak up about your issues with people and the situations they may put you in. It’s time to have a backbone directly with your friends. When Venus goes into the 6H, this may call attention to how you are physically and mentally taking care of yourself, it will show, so if you are letting people drag you underneath the surface, it will be apparent in your skin.
Scorpio Rising: You’re laying low a bit, mainly because you got stuff to do, and you aren’t feeling the best anyway. Venus is traversing your 6H. Your routines have been a bit dull and mundane, and you might want to think about switching it up from being so serious. You may feel like you’re dedicating your time to the wrong activities. Maybe you gave up pleasures to focus on goals, but you need more of a balance. When Venus reenters Pisces and goes into your 5H, reconnect with some of your concepts of fun. For other Scorpio risings, you may be having too much fun getting lost in or distracted by romances/drugs/being overly indulgent. Again, balance is key; don’t do too much or too little.
Sagittarius Rising: My Sagittarius risings, I have tried not to emphasize romance too much because I was saving it for you guys! Look, we already know it’s hard to tie you babies down, but I’m also not encouraging you to be tied down right now actually. I do like the exploration you guys should have within the dating field. However, I think you have to be clearer on intentions and more strict about the company you want to be around; that’s all I’m saying. You can’t let everyone in your home, so keep that in mind when Venus returns to Pisces in your 4H. Some people are only here for a good time, not a long time, but don’t be disingenuous about it.
Capricorn Rising: You guys might be a bit antsy for real. It’s a cool time to do something different around the house as Venus will be in your 4H for a bit. Some of you who live by yourself may consider a roommate if it’s worth it, and those with roommates may want to just stay to themselves and breathe! Either way, it may have been a bit hostile in the home for a bit, due to tensions with people you let within the house and it may be time to switch it up. When Venus goes into your 3H, there will be more voicing your opinion to your inner community, ranting about the conditions you’ve gone through, and being a bit more vulnerable.
Aquarius Rising: Watch your mouth girlie! Or have people around you been a bit more snarky recently? Sorry to hear that, either way, let’s get you to reevaluate how people in your community can make you feel when they speak to you. You can do this as well, so don’t get too comfortable. Just know that there are situations that may arise where you absolutely will have to speak up for yourself, and you will have to examine the company you keep. Are they reciprocal in action? Do they give, and do you give back and vice versa? Check out if that’s happening when Venus moves into your 2H.
Pisces Rising: Venus is in your 2H, and I’m here to tell you guys….do not waste your time if you’re not sure it will benefit or provide you joy. Otherwise, you’re wasting precious time, and possibly money. Honestly, this is a time to ask yourself, what do I need to cut out of my budget and what habits do I need to drop to make more time for activities of my worth. You will have questions about the worth something has to you, or if you are aligned with what you’re partaking in now. That reality check is coming when it comes to finances. When Venus reenters your 1H, it is time for you to reintroduce yourself and change your money flow, and just your flow in general, before you get yourself into a lot of mess you supposedly claim you didn’t see coming.
These are all summaries and they are dramatic so you can understand what the energy could be like at its peak. In reality, it may be very simple, and not a big fuss, but you knew what could happen because of these scenarios. I suggest examining the houses that I mentioned Venus is rxing in for you guys and studying their meanings because, more likely than not, those themes are going to show up for you. Also, be very aware of what Mars is doing because his influence will be felt during this transit.
Thank you all for reading and until next time ~ Christydabull
Hiiii did I miss the link to ask questions? I don’t see it and also are you planning to post one for mercury retrograde? I just listened to this one yesterday and it’s so insightful! I want to learn more
